From the supplier: The Penn-Harris-Madison School Corp has implemented a multimedia Integrated Information System (IIS) that enables teachers at the firm's Prairie Vista Elementary school to utilize all the sophisticated technologies in the school's Instructional Materials Center (IMC). The IMC contains computers, instructional media and hardware and telecommunications hardware, including amplifiers, switchers and fiber optic links. The IIS's fiber optics-based video, audio and data links throughout the school allow teachers to access the IMC as well as outside resources, such as satellite and cable television. Each classroom includes a unit that contains an AT and T Merlin phone system, control panel and remote control for push-button access to IMC media sources and voice, data and video connectors. Advantages include more multimedia resources for student learning, less media personnel required, better control of and access to media equipment, lower insurance costs and reduced media equipment maintenance, repair and replacement costs.
